Featured in an International Design Publication Book

Publisher: Quarto Group

Project: Feature in Graphic Design School (7th Edition)

Focus: Portfolio feature, International Recognition

Graphic Design School is a widely respected international textbook that has helped shape design education for over two decades. Now in its seventh edition, the book is used by universities, tutors and design students around the world. It combines visual fundamentals with modern practice, showcasing work that reflects the evolving nature of the design industry.

After graduating with a degree in Design for Publishing, I reached out to Quarto Publishing to enquire about potential junior opportunities. They were not hiring at the time, but what happened next became a significant milestone in my early career.

The opportunity

After speaking with the team at Quarto, I was invited to submit work for the upcoming edition of Graphic Design School. As a recent graduate, this became a turning point in how I saw my potential.

Most of my student portfolio was selected, including editorial, typography and layout projects. My work now appears alongside other featured designers in a publication used by design students and educators worldwide.

The outcome

Being featured in a globally recognised design textbook brought visibility to my work at a formative time in my career. It gave me the confidence to begin presenting myself not just as a creative, but as someone with a clear design voice and process.

This experience also strengthened my ability to communicate the thinking behind visual work. That same clarity now informs the way I mentor other creatives, develop client brands and teach storytelling through design.

The book continues to be used in universities, and my work remains part of a resource that introduces new designers to the field. It is a reminder that your first portfolio, no matter how raw, can still make a lasting impact.
