Empowering the Future of Green Tech in Canvey Island
Client: Essex County Council
Partners: Decrypthut, WeRise
Project: Support young people in Canvey
Note: Work delivered as part of the Green Growth Team at ECC
As part of Essex County Council’s wider commitment to green innovation and youth development, we identified an opportunity to introduce students in Canvey Island to emerging technologies and sustainability-focused careers. The aim was to open up new conversations around green jobs, future skills, and how young people can contribute to environmental solutions in their local area.

My Role
In my role within the Green Growth Team, I helped lead the coordination of this initiative in partnership with Decrypthut and WeRise, two organisations known for delivering engaging and accessible tech education for young people.
Planned and organised a robotics course
Presented on green skills and future industries
Co-delivered an inclusive course
Encouraged students to explore green jobs

Why it matters
As a mentor and advocate for neurodivergent and creative young people, I believe in designing experiences that centre inclusion, imagination and real-world relevance. This project created space for students to connect their interests with meaningful, future-focused opportunities.
It was more than a course on robotics. It was about helping students see where they could belong in tomorrow’s world.
